It's a rally, but not a race, more a challenge as the cars we take are worth no more than $1,000, hence a ‘Shitbox’.
We then drive these cars approximately 3,700kms across Australia in 7 days taking in some of the country’s most remote and beautiful places.
Each team needs to raise a minimum of $4,000 before we depart on the 7 day journey.
For 2014 the rally will depart from Perth on the 31st May 2014 and arrive in Darwin one week later. During this time we will truly experience the Australian outback and have a great laugh along the way.
Shitbox Rally is the largest community organized fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally having raised $2.95 million since 2010 with $1.24 million raised from the last rally alone.
Every year we change the route of the rally and for 2014 our route will take us from Perth, North to the Pilbara, onto the Kimberly via the Gibb River Road and finishing in Darwin, 3,896kms later on Friday the 6th June.
Each year we have 3 – 4 days of very dusty dirt road driving and this year will be no exception but with the addition of a number of river crossings to really challenge the teams and drivers.
